Mr. Cheplick (Department Chair)

Mr. Cheplick

Mr. Cheplick

Greetings:

It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to teach Social Studies at Nimitz 9th.  A little bit about myself,  prior to becoming a teacher I was an Army Officer. I retired with twenty-two years of service in both the active Army and the Army Reserve.  After earning my Masters Degree from the University of Iowa. I came to Aldine and completed my student teaching at Eisenhower High School. I started teaching at Nimitz High School and then transferred to Nimitz 9th in 1999, the year the school opened, as the department chair.

As a professional educator, I am entrusted to promote and develop the academic and social skills of our nation’s youth.  The specific goals of the courses I teach is to increase student understanding of the world, its people and their cultures.  In addition, I place emphasis the importance of participating in and understanding the American Political System so that student voices are heard when they turn of age to vote.  The World Geography course is concerned with helping students make connections to the nations of the world so they understand the ways we are all linked economically, politically, and culturally.
