Ms. Franklin (Department Chair)

Ms. Franklin

I am the engineering educator of Concepts of Engineering and Engineering Graphics & Presentation in the Career and Technical Department—Engineering Department, and the Career and Technical Department Chair with a determination to reach and to educate as many students as I possibly can. I have been in the education field for almost 2 decades and with Aldine ISD for 6 and a ½ years. I was also a college instructor for over 5 years in the engineering field.

I am a graduate of Lamar University, Prairie View A & M University,

and Liberty University with a BFA Degree and Master’s Degree.

I am currently working on my Doctorate Degree.

My goal as an educator is to teach each student the academics and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers; and to become lifelong learners in the career of engineering and how to apply it to their everyday life.

My goal as a Career and Technical Department Chair is to lead, supervise, and coordinate various teachers teaching various program/subject areas related to

Career and Technical on the high school level.

MY TEACHING COURSES IN DETAIL:

Concepts of Engineering and Technology (One-Half to One Credit).

General requirements. This course is recommended for students in Grades 9-10.

Concepts of Engineering and Technology provides an overview of the various fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and their interrelationships. Students will use a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects. Upon completing this course, students will have an understanding of the various fields and will be able to make informed decisions regarding a coherent sequence of subsequent courses. Further, students will have worked on a design team to develop a product or system. Students will use multiple software applications to prepare and present course assignments.

Engineering Design and Presentation (One to Two Credits).

General requirements: This course is recommended for students in Grades 10-12. Recommended prerequisite: Concepts of Engineering and Technology.

Students enrolled in this course will demonstrate knowledge and skills of the process of design as it applies to engineering fields using multiple software applications and tools necessary to produce and present working drawings, solid model renderings, and prototypes. Students will use a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects. Through implementation of the design process, students will transfer advanced academic skills to component designs. Additionally, students explore career opportunities in engineering, technology, and drafting and what is required to gain and maintain employment in these areas.

Thank you for visiting my page and I look forward to an exciting educational journey with the community, parents, each student, the teaching staff, and the administration.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Franklin, M TH, MDIV
