Regional History Fair 2018
Posted on 02/28/2018

Friday night at the Regional History Fair competition held at the Aldine Educational Center  6 Nimitz 9th Cougars finished in 1st Place and won their Regional categories and qualified for advancement to the State contest to be held in Austin on. The 5 N9 students that did not advance finished in the top five in their respective divisions just missing advancing to State.  Although in the Olympics, athletes finishing 3rd are on on the podium earning a bronze medal, in History Fair only 1st and 2nd advance to the next round.  For a Freshman to advance to State History Fair it is a real academic accomplishment.  They are competing against Juniors and Seniors.

History Fair is as rigorous an extra-curricular academic research activity as an can be found in K-12 education around the world today.  Over 600,000 students compete annually in the National History Day Program with only 35 students per State advancing to the National Contest held at the the University of Maryland each June.  Our students are on step away from accomplishing that feat.

These accomplishments would not be possible without the commitment to excellence and the dedication of Mr. DiAngelo.

In addition, the N9 History Fair Staff and students would like to thank the Administration, Mr. Schattle, and all the Staff Members that support our program.

The students advancing to State are:
